SC students will take new state tests beginning in April 2015. These new tests are ACT Aspire™, ACT Workkeys® and The ACT®. Not only will the tests reflect the achievement level of students, but the new tests will help teachers understand where their students are succeeding and where extra help or academic focus is needed. These tests will be an important tool in ensuring student success. Attached is a link to helpful information from the SC State Department of Education on the new state testing program and what it will mean for your student.

FREE Sports Physicals offered by Trident Health System on Saturday April 25th at 11:00am at Ashley Ridge High School. Students must complete a physical packet and pre-screening at SHS before going to ARHS for the physical. Middle schools have a similar plan in place. Pre-screening location/time will be in the Athletic Training Room at SHS during 5th/6th lunch periods and after school daily until 3:30pm now through April 24th. Students need to pick up a physical packet from the Athletic Training Room, and it must be completed before the pre-screening will be conducted.
Is your student interested in participating in athletics for the 2015-16 school year? If so take advantage of the FREE sports physicals offered by Trident Health System. Every student must have a valid physical dated April 1, 2015 or later in order to participate in workouts/conditioning/tryouts for the Summer and 2015-16 school year. In order to take advantage of the FREE physical students must pick up a physical packet from the athletic training room. The history and parent/athlete signatures must be completed in order to have a pre-screening completed prior to the physical. Pre-screenings include a quick review of history and height, weight, and vision screenings. NO Pre-screening=No Entrance to the physicals on April 25th. If you choose not to take advantage of the FREE physical, physical forms can still be picked up or printed off from the Sports Medicine page under the “Athletics” tab on the Summerville High School website to take to your personal doctor. Physicals have to be completed on this form or cannot be accepted.
