STEM Mentors
The Summerville STEM Academy is looking for mentors to work with students in our area. STEM is a push for students to become involved in science, technology, engineering, and math. There are great benefits to the students and the community. ACT/PSAT Score Release Day
Tuesday, Jan. 20 is the ACT and PSAT awareness day. During homeroom today, students received their individual score reports, a TCA Test Prep instruction handout, and a folder to hold their materials. English, science, math, and social studies classes will have activities to help explain and emphasize the importance of the score information throughout the day. Please take a moment to look at the power point presentation that students saw today as well as the test prep video which are located on the test prep tab of the school website. There is a wealth of information and resources available to parents and students; we hope you take advantage of it. Click here to access the materials.

Teacher Cadets
Applications for the Teacher Cadet program are now being accepted for next school year. This course is AP/Dual Credit, and students are screened through an application process that requires three teacher recommendations, an essay, an application and an overall “B” average (3.0). The course is a study of the history, development, organization and practices of preschool, elementary, and secondary education. Click here for the application--due Feb 7 to Mrs. Plane in room 159.
Boys Tennis Tryouts
Tryout dates for varsity boy’s tennis begin Monday February 2nd from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the SHS tennis courts. It is understood that Middle School students arrive as soon as possible after school. Tryouts will continue daily at the same time until the team is selected. Team practice will then commence daily. 7th thru 12th graders are eligible only after submitting a current and completed pre-participation sports physical. Forms are available on the tennis webpage on the SHS website under athletics/tennis. Participants will need appropriate shoes and a tennis racquet. Additional information will be provided at the tryout about the upcoming season and player expectations. Contact Coach Long via e-mail with any questions or concerns

Nurse Locations
SHS now has two nurse stations to help facilitate student needs. All students with specific medications or needs have already been notified by the nurses where to go. Except for an emergency, students should report to their assigned nurse's station.
Grades 9 and 12: upstairs in room 244 (Nurse Harlan)
Grades 10 and 11: downstairs next to room 120 (Nurse Allen)

Senior T-Shirts
Senior t-shirts that list all senior names are being sold for the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society. They cost $10 and are available with Mrs. McCune in room 214. Click here to view the shirt. They are here only as long as they last!

ECPI Program
Summerville High School now offers a dual enrollment program through ECPI University. This program offers 9 dual enrollment courses (27 college credit hours) in the area of computer science. All courses are conducted on the campus of SHS and are free of charge. This program is available to any rising juniors (current 10th graders). Seniors and parents, check out our new and improved scholarship information site! It is organized by the scholarship deadline months and has a ton of great info! You can download the file and sort by amount, deadline date, category, and award basis. Many thanks to our counselors Ms. Strott and Ms. Mercer-Brown for putting this program together!
