Summerville High School Game Against Colleton County Rescheduled to 6:00pm
Summerville High School has been informed of rumors that two rival gangs from outside our area have threatened to settle a dispute at the Summerville High School home football game against Colleton County High School on Friday, October 24th.  The Summerville Police Department and Dorchester School District Two are taking this threat/concern very seriously.  The first priority is the safety of students, staff and the public.
There are no other details available at this time; however, extraordinary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of all attending the game.  Working closely with local law enforcement, district and school officials are taking the following actions:
  • Kick-off has been moved to 6:00 p.m. with gates opening at 4:00 p.m.
  • Entrances to the stadium will be limited to Gate 1 adjacent to Rollings Middle School of the Arts
on Main Street and Gate 3 across from Spann Elementary on John McKissick Way
  • Walk through metal detectors will be in place at each gate
  • There will be an increased presence of law enforcement officers at the gates, inside the stadium, in parking lots and other common areas adjacent to the stadium
  • Spectators will be asked to refrain from bringing large bags, tote bags, or book bags into the stadium
  • All students are reminded that this is a school function and loitering in common areas will not be permitted
  • Spectators will be asked to exit immediately upon conclusion of the game
We ask the public’s understanding and cooperation in making this a wonderful ball game and homecoming for Summerville High School.
