Online Climate Survey
Dorchester School District Two invites parents, students, staff, and community members to participate in an online climate survey about our schools that will be conducted beginning September 22nd - October 10th.  Online access to the parent and community surveys are available below.

Summerville High School Announcements
IGP Meetings
We are in the process of scheduling Individual Graduation Plan meetings for this year. The Graduation Plan Meeting (IGP) is required each year for all students and gives parents/students/counselors an opportunity to review and revise plans if necessary. Scheduling of IGPs will continue on the following order:

Seniors - Should be completed by the end of September
Freshman – Scheduling began in September
Juniors – Scheduling beginning in October
Sophomores – Scheduling beginning in November

Call (843 821-3923, extension 51020 ) or email to schedule your student's IGP with his/her counselor. If you received an appointment time by mail, please respond to that mailing. All IGPs should be completed by January 16, 2015.

AALANA Day at CofC
College of Charleston will host an AALANA Preview Day on October 18 on the campus. This is for prospective students who are African American, Latino, Asian, and Native American. Check out their website for more information:

College Application Week
SENIORS!!!You are invited to attend College Application Week events next week during 5th and 6th periods in the Media Center. Wednesday, there will be reps from many colleges on hand to help and offer advice.

Monday- College Application overview and SCOIS Assistance

Wednesday- College Application and Representatives Assistance
Thursday- Transcript Request and Application Review
**Friday- Financial Aid Mini Presentation

Scrubs U
Students who are interested in a career in healthcare are encouraged to take advantage of Roper St. Francis Hospital's program, Scrubs "U". This quarter's topic is imaging, which includes x-rays, ultrasound, MRI, and CT careers. The program will be Tuesday, October 16th from 5-7pm at St. Francis. Register by calling 843-402-2273.
Stem Premier
Seniors, don't forget to go online to to register for your student account. You can create a digital profile and portfolio that will help link you with jobs and colleges. Check with your counselor to get the promo code needed to upgrade your account for free.
Walk At School
SHS will be sponsoring a Walk At School day on October 8th this year. We are seeking small donations for our students to help promote health and wellness. If you would like to donate or help provide some t-shirts, wristbands, water bottles, or fruit, please contact Mrs. Roberts at for more information.
Seniors and parents: we will post lists of available scholarships several times a month on the Scholarships page of the School Counseling link to the left. Please check back often for more lists. Most scholarship applications have deadlines, so act quickly. Please see Mrs. Toliver in Guidance if you have questions.
Grad Bash
Attn Seniors: There are four remaining rooms reserved for Grad Bash 2015. Make sure you see Mrs. Walker in room 101 to make an initial deposit to ensure you are on the party list. Universal has just announced that Trey Songz will be in concert at Islands of Adventure during the 2015 Grad Bash event.
Softball Clinic
There will be a girls softball clinic on Oct. 6th-7th from 4:30-6:30. Players in grades 6th-12th are invited to attend. The cost of the clinic is $25 and all players will receive a Summerville Softball t-shirt. Come work on your softball skills with the 2014 SC AAAA Lower State Runnerup. Early College
Attn 9th grade parents: save the date for the Early College Cohort 3 Parent Information Night.This program allows students to earn a college associate's degree during high school. The meeting will take place October 30th at 6:30 PM in the auditorium.
The Summerville High School Athletic Club (SHAC) is hosting its first annual 5k on Saturday, October 4. The proceeds support the SHAC which is SHS's all-sports booster club. The race will end at the 50 yd line of Summerville Memorial Stadium. There are less than two weeks left to sign up -- click here for the link. Go Wave!

Bell and Bus Schedule Meetings
