Mr. Farrell is excited to return to SHS this year as the head principal after serving six years as Principal of DuBose Middle School. He served SHS as an Assistant Principal before going to DuBose.† He has an undergraduate degree from the†University of South Carolina and a†Masters degree from the Citadel.† He has been married over 15 years and has two children who attend DuBose Middle and SHS.† He and his family are active members of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Mrs.Blunt taught science at SHS (and Gregg Campus) for over 20 years and has served as the science department chair. Mrs. Blunt earned her Bachelor's Degree from South Carolina State University and her Master's in Administration from Charleston Southern University. Her administrative duties this year will have a particular focus on helping to raise the graduation rate at SHS. Mrs. Blunt is also the the Assistant Principal in charge of Evening School.
Asst. Principal - Courtney Bunao
After graduating from Summerville High School in 1998, Mr. Giet attended The Citadel where he earned a Bachelorís degree in Social Studies Education. In 2013, he earned a Masterís in Administration from the American College of Education. He is married to the former Kristen Renaud, a 1999 graduate of SHS, and has two children Ashton (7) and Nolan (5).
Mr. Harlow moved here from Southboro, MA. After graduating from Clemson University in Architecture, he went back to The Citadel and got his Masters in Teaching and certification in Administration once he found his educational calling. He has been with Summerville for most of his teaching and his entire administrative career. Mr. Harlow has a beautiful wife who also works in the district and two daughters that go to school in Dorchester District 2.
Mr. Hodges is a new addition to the Summerville High School tradition. Before coming to SHS, Mr. Hodges was a science teacher at Fort Dorchester High School. He taught there for 5 years and before that he taught 2 years in Berkeley County. He graduated from Clemson University twice; earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Sciences and Secondary Science Teaching. He earned a Masterís degree in Secondary Administration from the Citadel in 2010. His wife, Amanda Hodges, is a teacher at Alston Middle School. In his free time, Mr. Hodges enjoys spending time with his wife and his 3 year old son, Sullivan, traveling, going to the beach, golfing, being active, and just enjoying life! He is excited to be part of the Green Wave tradition!
Mrs. OíRear is born and raised in Summerville and excited to be returning to her alma mater this school year.† She is a 1992 graduate of Summerville High School, received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and Masters in School Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University.† Mrs. OíRear is beginning her 17th year in education which is composed of 8 years as a classroom teacher and 9 years as a school administrator.† She has served in administration at the elementary and middle level and looks forward to now being in the high school.† She enjoys watching sports (especially Clemson and Summerville High School), being on the boat and spending time with family and friends.† She is married to Brad OíRear and they have two children, identical twin boys Hayden and Bryce (5 years old).† Mrs. OíRear is overseeing the Freshman Academy students A-K, fine arts department, driversí education and physical education.
Jennifer Tracy has been a member of the Summerville community for most of her life. She began her career in 2005 as an English teacher at Summerville High School. She earned her Bachelorís Degree in Secondary English Education and her Masterís Degree in Elementary Education from Charleston Southern University. Mrs. Tracy also holds a M.Ed. and an Ed.S. in Educational Administration, both from†the University of South Carolina.† Currently, she serves as the Master Scheduler and oversees the Dual Enrollment and Early College Programs.
